Position Objectives:
The Old Town Public Library is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Adult Services Librarian. This role involves managing adult programming, assisting with marketing efforts, and overseeing circulation operations.Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Program Management: Plan, implement, and evaluate diverse programs and services that cater to the educational, recreational, and personal needs of adults.
- Digital Services: Develop and teach classes on library digital services, apps, and technologies.
- Marketing & Communication: Collaborate with the Library Director to create content for social media and the library website.
- Circulation Operations: Oversee and assist with circulation desk activities and manage staff and volunteers.
- Collection Development: Contribute to collection development by selecting materials based on reviews, requests, and trends.
- Reference Services: Provide research assistance and reader’s advisory to patrons.
- Operational Management: Supervise billing procedures, interlibrary loans, and manage library operations in the absence of the Director.
- Team Collaboration: Foster teamwork among staff and volunteers and assist in the development of library policies and goals.
- Safety Compliance: Assist the director in required safety trainings.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Previous library experience and knowledge of public library principles, technologies, and customer service.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media management, and familiarity with metadata standards (AACR2, MARC).
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build cooperative relationships.
- Availability: Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed for programming events.
