Code Enforcement Fees

Building Permits

  • New Construction (Residential, Commercial and Industrial)
    The amount of the permit will be based on the estimate of value determined by the International Code Council estimator in place at that time.  To determine the permit cost multiply the determined estimated value by 0.005. ICC estimator chart
  • Alterations and Other (Residential, Commercial and Industrial)
    Includes, decks, minor additions, remodeling, etc.  Permit based on the estimated value of the project.
    • < $1,000 - $25.00
    • $1,000 - $4,000 - $35.00
    • $5,000 - $9,999 - $50.00
    • $10,000 - $20,000 - $65.00
    • >$20,000 - $4.00 per $1,000 of project value
  • Double permit fees to be assessed if work has begun prior to the issuance of the permit or approval by the Code Enforcement Office.
  • Certificates of Occupancy – No Charge

Moving Permits - $35.00

Demolition Permits

  • $50.00 plus $20.00 for each story over 2
  • $10.00 for small structures such as garages and sheds with no sewer connection.
    Note:  If an new building is to be built on the site the demolition permit will be waived if the building permit is to be issued prior to the demolition of the building


Sign Permits - $30.00

Electrical Permits

  • New Construction
    • Residential (Single Family) - $100.00 includes temporary, all house wiring and wiring of accessory structures.
    • Residential (Multi-Family) - $100.00 plus $30.00 per dwelling unit – includes temporary, all wiring and wiring of accessory structures.  Each structure or building shall be considered a separate multi-family unit.
  • Commercial, Industrial, and other - $100.00 plus 1% of the estimated cost over $5,000
  • Alterations (Residential, Commercial and Other) - Based on estimated cost of electrical work.
    • Less than $100.00:  $20.00
    • $100.00 - $1,000:  $40.00
    • Over $1,000:   $40.00 plus 1% of the estimated cost over $1,000
  • Double permit fees to be assessed if work has begun prior to the issuance of the permit or approval by the Code Enforcement Office
  • Use Permits - $25.00
  • Timber Harvesting Permits(in Resource Protection Zone) - $30.00

Planning Board

  • Site Plan Review - $100.00
  • If the project includes any public improvements to be taken over by the city added to the $100.00 is 1% of the cost of the public improvements.
    • Special Exceptions - $100.00
    • Applicat1ion for Zone Change - $100.00
    • Application for Zoning Ordinance change - $100.00
    • Other Applications - $100.00
    • Preliminary Subdivision - $100.00
    • Final Subdivisions
    • $100.00 plus $30.00 per lot plus 1% of new public improvements to be taken over and maintained at the public expense.

 

Zoning Board of Appeals

  • All applications  -  $100.00
    Note:  The fees noted for planning and zoning boards  include advertising in the local newspaper.  If any other advertising will be required the cost and responsibility of such will be born by the applicant.
  • Copies:  Cost of paper copies of the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, Zoning Maps, etc. will be determined by the city manager.
