City Assessor
The Assessing Office follows Maine state law in carrying out property assessments for the City of Old Town. The City Assessor is responsible for identifying, describing, and determining the value of all real estate and taxable personal property so that property taxes are shared fairly and equitably among property owners.
Each spring, after the City, County and School budgets are approved, the Assessor prepares the official list of taxable properties and submits the assessments to the City Tax Collector for billing and collection. Assessment records are public information and are available for review at City Hall. These records are also reported to Maine Revenue Services and are reviewed through an annual audit to ensure accuracy and compliance with state standards.
April Buchanan has been the City Assessor since 2022.
